Here's the starting line up for the 2019 season! New names may be added, or players moved to another team, so watch this space...

Name: Beth Grey

Known as: B, B-dawg, Beth

Position: GS, GA

Bio: Moved up to Aberdeen from North Yorkshire the start of this year as a newly qualified physiotherapist. Loving Aberdeen but missing Yorkshire puddings!

Netball Bio: I have lived and breathed netball for as long as I can remember! I was always GK until 2 years ago when I tried GS in training and never looked back. Joined Atoms in March 2018 and loving it, the girls are awesome players but more importantly awesome people!

Mantra: The harder you work the more cake you get to eat!

Clur 1.jpg

Name: Claire Buckley

Known as: Clur, and undoubtedly many other things behind my back...!

Netball Positions: GS, GA, and wherever is needed!

Personal Bio: Netball is life... No, seriously. I have no other life!! Oh, apart from the job to fund my netball habit. I'm a process engineer, and no-one is wanting to know more about that.

Netball Bio: Didn't play netball until I was 22... And I didn't want to then! Was persuaded to 'come along for a week or 2' for a runabout whilst I found a hockey club. And here I still am... And loving it :-) I'm now a level 2 coach, netball statistician, bench official, B umpire, Umpire tutor and assessor for Netball Scotland, on the ADNA committees, and generally wondering what I will do with my life when I retire from netball!!

Mantra for the season: It wasn't a missed shot, it was a pass.

Daisy.jpg

Name: Daisy Burnell

Known as: Dais, Duke, Little B

Netball Positions: GA, C

Personal Bio: I am a, not so secret, bird nerd. When I am not coordinating a UK wide breeding seabird census, I am out on my lunch break birding! I love the outdoors, whether its walking along coastal cliffs or pottering about in the garden. I also love arts, crafts and all things vintage!

Netball Bio: I started playing age 14 in my mums team, back home. I played with them all the way through high-school and 6th form. When I left for the shiny lights of Aberdeen, I managed to get into the Aberdeen Uni 2nd team. I played there, until my ACL decided to snap during a match. It took three years to finally build up the strength, and my confidence, to get back on the court! I joined Aberdeen Atoms in September 2018, and they have been incredible for my confidence! It feels awesome to play netball again and I couldn't have asked for a better team to play in!

Mantra for the Season: Go hard, or go home! Jokes, just don't get injured….

Name: Eilidh Hogg

Known as: Big Eilidh

Netball positions: WD & GD

Personal bio: Cat lover, bee keeper, netball defender! Work in oil and gas as a planner but hope to have a farm, grow loads of strawberries and save the bees!

Netball bio: I played at Primary school, and didn’t return to netball until 2011 where I joined MTM (which then became Harlaw). I trained/played with them until 2014/15 when the club ended, had a year’s break from netball and then joined club Atoms in Autumn 2016. The training and club cosiness is awesome, and my play has come on leaps and bounds thanks to the detailed and focused training sessions. I am trying to build myself to go on an umpire course next… And looking forward to an exciting season with team Atoms!

Mantra for the season: Play hard, play smart and play together… and channels!!!

Name: Carron Elliott

Name: Amie Geddes

Elizabeth 1.jpg

Name: Elizabeth Graham

Known as: Betty to a select few

Netball Positions: WA, WD, C (at a push)

Personal Bio: Work in Oil & Gas as a Production Reporting & Forecast Analyst (it is as boring as it sounds). Born and bred in Aberdeen and had no inclination to move anywhere else, unless I win the lottery and then my fiancé Paul and I are off to sunnier and warmer climes, but obviously I’ll make it back in time for Atoms games.

Netball Bio: It’s scary to say, but I’ve been playing netball for over 35 years now.  As with every other young player at primary school I wanted the glory that I thought come with being a shooter and scoring the goals. Not quite understanding the concept of a team sport. Come secondary school I had found my calling as WA/C and joined MTM/Harlaw in 1993 and played for them for around 21 years.  When the club disbanded I decided I’d take a break from netball, but after an invite to come along to Atoms training to “see if you like it”, I signed up there and then and not looked back. The ladies in the club are an awesome bunch, just a pity it took me so long to find them. Claim to netball fame, I won player of the season for my division 10 years apart with 2 different clubs.  Still a few season left in these old legs. I am a level “C” umpire.

Mantra for the Season: If netball isn’t fun, you’re not playing on the right team and “Sorry” as I lob a high ball into the circle.

Helen L.jpg

Name: Helen Lund

Known as: Helen, Hels, Helsbells, Helen L, Oi (when on court),

Netball Positions: GK and GD

Personal Bio: I’m a fun-loving wife, mother, process engineering, netball addict from Redcar, home of the lemon top, Chicken Parmo and oldest lifeboat I the world. I Moved to Aberdeen 6 years ago where I joined Aberdeen Atoms.

Netball Bio: Got into netball late in life after I met Clur and was persuaded ('persuaded'... Nicely put! Ed.) to come along to Aberdeen Atoms way back at the beginning of 2013. That is where the obsession began. I came to Atoms after only having played netball as a gangly 13 year old and never really having the confidence to pursue it further than that. My netball game started slow, I was all over the place, still gangly and didn’t really have any finesse at all!

Fast forward 5 years and my game has improved a lot, although I’m still gangly and at times all over the place! I am a Level C umpire for the ADNA district and I’m going for my B award this season.

I’m looking forward to the 2018-2019 season playing netball with Team Atoms with a lovely bunch of ladies.

Mantra for the season: You never lose, either you win or you learn

Name: Karen Hall

Netball Positions: GK, GD, WD

Personal Bio:  I’m a marine biologist by trade and manage to get out to do some cool fieldwork now and again (fieldtrip to the Falklands to see penguins, yes please!)  Most of the time though I have an office based job advising on marine environmental issues.

Netball Bio: Played netball at primary and secondary school and then university happened and with its many distractions I stopped playing (unforgiveable!).  Started playing again in Aberdeen about 5 years ago and Atoms took me under their wing 3 seasons ago and I’ve never looked back!  Netball definitely helps me destress from the day job!

Mantra for the Season: Bring it on (shooters!)!

Hannah.jpg

Name: Hannah Lochhead

Known as: Han, New Kid on the Loch

Position: GK, GD

Personal Bio: Expat brat/oil and gas baby now living up in Aberdeen since January to follow suit and join the oil and gas industry (I’m a reservoir engineer). A big board game fanatic and ice-cream addict.

Netball Bio:  I caught the netball bug about 8 years ago and it’s slowly taken over my life - Eat, sleep, breath netball. I love playing with the team and can’t wait to see what 2019/2020 brings to Team Atoms!

Mantra for the season: The idea is not to block every shot, its to make your opponent believe you will block every shot.

 Name: Kelly Macbeath

Georgia.jpg

Name: Georgia Ross (Captain)

Known as: G, George

Positions: GA, GS, WA

Personal bio: I graduated in Festival & Event Management and now work in Finance (who knew that was a thing!) I lead a relatively standard life with my (soon to be) husband and our westie, Fergus (love him!) I’m also a Pilot Officer in the RAF.

Netball bio: I played netball in primary school and loved being a shooter! I started playing again at Uni playing for Edinburgh Napier 2nd team for 3 years, I was captain and president for the club. I moved back to Aberdeen and played for 2 other teams before joining Aberdeen Atoms in 2016 (and I have never looked back since) I have played in both team Atoms and team Atomics and could not love this club and these girls more!

I have also gained my C umpire qualification and I am now the ADNA treasurer!

Mantra: Work hard, play harder….drink hardest?!
