Uni 4 v Aberdeen Atoms– Wednesday 4th Dec – Cults Academy 8.45pm

In the final game of 2013 for Atoms, they were off to a flying start opening scoring with a lovely goal from Waite. There was some lovely attacking from Atoms and moving around the scoring circle moving towards a second goal from Atoms. Atoms defence was soon under attack from Uni 4 but some lovely play and passes between Wilkie, McDonald and Lewis meant that Uni 4 were kept out of their scoring circle and the ball was soon played back up to the Atoms involving more goals. Defence continued to be tight but Uni 4 rallied and opened their scoring. Atoms picked up their play with some rather energetic defending from Maley and Lewis. Atoms remained the stronger team throughout the quarter keeping play in their scoring circle and some lovely goals followed by both Buckley and Waite. Atoms finished the quarter with a well deserved lead.
The second quarter opened with Atoms maintaining the lead with Belka taking the goal attack position adn scoring a lovely goal. Defence was under pressure early on and Uni 4 scored but soon the play moved up the court and Atoms scored. The play became quicker and scrappier but when Aroms slowed down their play there was some lovely passes. Uni 4 also upped their game with some strong attacking but Atoms quickly rallied and pushed the play towards their own scoring circle and another goal. Play seemed more even this quarter but Atoms maintained their lead, the quarter ended Atoms in the lead with a score of 24 to Uni 4 score of 11.
The third quarter opened with the same quick play with Uni 4 opening the scoring but this was soon matched by a goal from Atoms who refused to allow Uni 4 to get the upper hand. Belka and Waite made a good team in the scoring circle with good passes and communication. Uni 4 soon pushed back with another goal but some good defending with McDonald and Wilkie working well together to push the ball up court for the Atoms to score again. The third quarter saw Atoms as the stronger team.
The final quarter saw Uni 4 opening the scoring with some lovely attacking but some strong defending and push from Atoms allowed the ball to smoothly move up court for a lovely goal from Buckley. The pace remained fast but neither team stopped pushing with good communication on the court and some lovely play on the court. Atoms continued to have teh edge and there were several more goals scored by both Waite and Buckley. Defence worked hard and fed the ball up the court which saw some lovely play between Lewis Strachan and Malley. At teh end of teh quarter Atoms had a well deserved win.
